The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Gets A March 2021 Release Date

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier long-awaited release date has finally arrived! It is the second Marvel Cinematic Universe series to debut on Disney+, hitting the streaming platform on March 19, 2021. Following WandaVision which is set to premiere in January, the series will help usher MCU’s Phase Four.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series was officially confirmed in April 2019. Filming shortly commenced for the show in October 2019, but was eventually put on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic. As a consequence, the Disney+ series arrival was also delayed. Production finally wrapped up in October, paving the way for its six episodes to be finished before the year ends. Luckily, it means fans won’t have to wait that long before seeing their favorite characters back on the screen.

Marvel Studios revealed through Twitter on Thursday that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier would begin streaming on March 19.

While it was not explicitly stated, the post writes that the original series “starts streaming Mar. 19,” which hints for a subsequent release. Meaning, episodes would be released one-by-one as opposed to making everything readily available all at once. The show may take after Disney’s The Mandalorian, which follows a weekly release of new episodes.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Official Trailer

In addition to the release date, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier also received its first proper trailer release. The show takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Steve Rogers has retired as Captain America, living a simple life instead in an alternate reality with longtime love, Peggy Carter. Sam Wilson (Falcon) has picked up the shield instead. “The legacy of that shield is complicated,” he says to Sebastian Stan‘s Bucky Barnes, setting to follow in the footsteps of Captain America.

The rest of the trailer contains some solid action beats, including a scene following Falcon soaring through a canyon, dodging missiles from a helicopter. In one comedic relief, the trailer ends with Falcon and the Winter Soldier engaging in their usual bickering. Falcon teases the Winter Soldier about what’s going on in his “cyborg brain,” only to have him reply, “I hate you.”

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, with Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier. The show also stars Daniel Brühl as Zemo, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker/US Agent. The series premieres on March 19, 2021, exclusively available for streaming on Disney+.
