The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s VanCamp Hopes For 2021 Series Release

After what has been a long drought for MCU fans, Marvel now gears up as its several projects are underway. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is one of the slated series for Disney+, and star Emily VanCamp recently commented on the show’s release date.

VanCamp will reprise her role as Sharon Carter/Agent 13 in the upcoming Marvel series. She made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and appeared in Captain America: Civil War two years later. VanCamp’s character Sharon somehow intrigued fans because of her close relationship with Steve Rogers/Captain America. After all, Sharon is the great-niece of Steve’s first love, Peggy Carter. In the end, Steve ultimately went back in time to live out his life with Peggy, which put a rest on his awkward situation with her.

Originally, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was set to kick off Disney’s run of Marvel shows. However, the unprecedented pandemic halted production for months that it wasn’t ready in time for its supposedly August release. WandaVision takes its place instead, but will premiere not until mid-January next year.

VanCamp recently spoke with PJ Stock (via ComicBookMovie) and gave updates about the show. She shared, “I don’t think they have a release date, cause we had to come back and finish [filming] after lockdown. They’re done filming, so they’re probably almost done editing at this point.”

When asked when she thinks the series will be launched, she said, “Hopefully, beginning of the year. And The Resident is starting up in January as well, so there might be a lot of me, come January.”

When will The Falcon and the Winter Soldier be released?

Since filming for season 1 has wrapped up according to VanCamp, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s premiere might not be too far from now. Early 2021 seems probable, but a January date specifically is a bit more unlikely. Disney has spaced out release of its original content, with roughly a year passing between The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2.

Following the same pattern, it wouldn’t make sense to release The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in the same month as WandaVision. Hence, a February or March launch for the series seems more probable. On the other hand, it’s also worth noting Marvel is currently dealing with content backlogs after theater shutdowns. MCU fans will have to brace themselves for an impressive surge of Marvel line-up including four movie releases in 2021.
