Peaky Blinders: Will Tommy Shelby Die in Season 7?

Director Steven Knight has said publicly that Peaky Blinders Season 7 will be the final entry in the incredibly popular series following The Shelby Family post world war one, but will season 7 end with the death of leader Tommy Shelby?

In September of 2019, BBC’s Peaky Blinders aired its latest episodes, but a new installment to the series hasn’t been seen since. After the release of season 5, Steven Knight, the show’s director, suggested that season 6 would be out in early 2021.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem too likely as the production of the new season has come to a halt due to the ongoing pandemic. This could mean that we might not see a season 6 of the show until late 2021 or 2022.

Will Peaky Blinders end with Tommy Shelby’s death in season 7?

Tommy Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy, seems to always have someone waiting on his downfall. From the hatred shown for him by Italian mobster Luca Changretta to his latest nemesis MP Oswald Mosley, to say Tommy isn’t liked in his world is an understatement.

Once Mosley discovered that there was an attempted assassination plot in the previous season, it’s possible that this causes him to seek his own revenge against Tommy.

While viewers adore Tommy Shelby (played by Cillian Murphy), he isn’t exactly the most liked character in his world. Whether it is Major Campbell (Sam Neill), Italian mobster Luca Changretta (Adrien Brody) or his latest nemesis MP Oswald Mosley (Sam Caflin), someone who is eager to see Tommy dead is never too far away.

After Mosley found out about the attempted assassination plot in season five, this could lead to the fascist seeking his own revenge against Tommy. Although some are wondering how the show will close out, fans of Peaky Blinders have speculated that the show can only end in one way: Tommy’s death.

In an interview with RadioTimes.com, Director Steven Knight described the ending of the show as, “trouble, trouble, and trouble,” with a bit of happiness as well. Fans of the show are split between whether or not it will actually be Tommy who ends it all, rather than one of his enemies.

Especially because Tommy was seen struggling with his mental health throughout season 5, it seems like Tommy’s death being caused by himself may be a possibility. In fact, in the finale, Tommy was last seen pointing a gun at his own head once he found out several people had betrayed him. Whether or not Tommy was serious about going through with it, though, is still unclear.

According to Knight, it will take a total of seven series to tell the full story of Peaky Blinders. In the meantime, all fans can do is hope for a quicker release of the next season and then an even longer wait for season 7, to find out if it will all end with Tommy Shelby’s death.
