Netflix has given “God’s Favorite Idiot” the go-signal to start working on the 16-episode series.

The workplace comedy will be a lovechild of Ben Falcone and Melissa McCarthy, who will both star and executive produce the show. Michael McDonald who is famous for directing “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Nobodies” is set to direct and executive produce the show.

The two are by far, one of the funniest couples in show business as of the moment.

“God’s Favorite Idiot” follows a certain Clark Thompson (who is played by Falcone), a mid-level technical support employee who falls in love with his colleage Amily Luck (who will be played by McCarthy). At the same time, he gets chosen to be the messenger of God.

Yes, it includes all that – lake of fire, impending apocalypse, et cetera.

The company in charge of production is On the Day.

“God’s Favorite Idiot” is the married couple’s sixth collaboration together. Their more recent project was when they executive produced and starred in “Nobodies.” The show aired its first season on TV Land but later moved to Paramount Network for its second and final season.

McCarthy and Falcone also teamed up on “Bridesmaids,” “Tammy,” “The Boss,” and “Life of the Party.”

Falcone and McCarthy are both represented by CAA and MGMT Entertainment.
