Money Heist currently holds the record of being the most-watched non-English series on Netflix, making it a certified international phenomenon. Also known as La Casa De Papel, the series part 4 alone racked up a whopping 65 million total views. Hence, it is not surprising that the hit crime drama is officially returning for a fifth and final season. When is its potential release date and what do we know so far about the show? Keep scrolling to read more.

Money Heist Season 5 Release Date

On July 31, Netflix announced that Money Heist would be returning for a fifth season. Posting an image of Dali mask on its Twitter, the streaming giant confirms, “the heist will come to an end.” In other words, season 5 will also be the final installment of the hit Spanish series.

Following the announcement regarding its renewal and final season, series creator and executive producer Alexa Pina explained further his thoughts.

“We’ve spent almost a year thinking about how to break up the band. How to put the Professor on the ropes. How to get into situations that are irreversible for many characters. The result is the fifth part of La Casa de Papel. The war reaches its most extreme and savage levels, but it is also the most epic and exciting season.”

However, other than the season extension, Netflix has not confirmed anything officially including a potential release date.

Money Heist Season 5 Plot

The heist is very much still on with Lisbon now joining the rest of the gang in the Bank of Spain. It seems like the upcoming season will follow the heist members as they try to escape from the bank. However, with the Professor caught red-handed after Sierra found his hideout, the gang faces another inevitable threat.

The show has to deal with this massive cliffhanger as viewers are desperate to know what happens next to Professor.

Speaking about what they hope to achieve with the final season of Money Heist, Álex Rodrigo, one of the directors on the series said that he wants to “close the series in style, as the fans imagine and dream.”

The main heist members expected to be back for season 5 of the hit Spanish crime drama are the following:

  • Itziar Ituño as Lisbon
  • Miguel Herrán as Rio
  • Jaime Lorente as Denver
  • Esther Acebo as Stockholm
  • Rodrigo De la Serna as Palermo

  • Luka Peros as Marsella

Supporting characters like Arturo (Enrique Arce), Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri), Manila (Belen Cuesta) and Gandia (Jose Manuel Poga) are all expected to return too after their storylines ended on cliffhangers.

While there is no confirmation of Berlin’s (Pedro Alonso) return for final season, his Instagram post suggests that he will.

“I just had my hair cut, tried on clothes. They all wore masks. That at times seemed like the Pentagon. Or one of Spielberg about meetings in who knows what phase. The fact is that soon I will be him again. It’s called Berlin and it’s pure love. Sometimes,” he captions his post.
