Over 35k “Wicked” Fans Petition to Keep James Corden Out of Film Adaptation

Ever since the lead roles have been cast for the film adaptation of Broadway’s biggest blockbuster, “Wicked”, fans of the musical have had many clashing opinions. But, if there’s one thing they can agree on, it’s that James Corden should be kept far, far away from the movie.

In fact, a petition has even been made to do so, claiming that “James Corden in no way shape or form should be in or near the production of Wicked the movie.” The form brought in over 16,000 signatures in two days and now has over 35,000 supporters petitioning for the cause.

“We’ve suffered enough,” one “Wicked” fan wrote in their reason for signing, while another said, “James Corden is the worst and ruins every movie musical he’s in. I’m literally begging don’t let him anywhere near Wicked.”

Corden has had a role in many stage-to-screen adaptations, including “Cats”, Rob Marshall’s “Into the Woods”, Amazon’s “Cinderella”, and Ryan Murphy’s “The Prom”. With every role Corden is cast in, it seems that there’s a unanimous creeping fear developing that the star will make his way into the cast of more fan favorites.

As of right now, we know Cynthia Erivo will star as Elphaba, while Ariana Grande will star opposite her as Glinda. The rest of the cast has yet to be announced, but it’s safe to say that film will lose the support of thousands of fans if James Corden is given a role.
