It’s been five years since we’ve seen a new Rihanna album, and to say fans are ready for a new one is an understatement. When she’s not heavily involved in the fashion and beauty industries, which is rare, the star has been experimenting with new music.
“I’m really experimenting. Music is like fashion. You should be able to play. I should be able to wear whatever I want. I treat music the same way. So I’m having fun and it’s going to be completely different,” said Rihanna.

While there isn’t a set release date for her new album, Rihanna mentioned in March 2021 that a new song will be coming “soon”. When a fan commented on her Instagram post asking her to celebrate her musical achievements with a new song, Rihanna replied, “I think I should, just 1 tho lol”.
Flashback to 2019, Rihanna wrote in another Instagram post that she was working on an album and might’ve even leaked the name.
“This year has been quite an overwhelming one, and I’m working on that ish called Balance, brb,” Rihanna stated in the post’s caption.
Of course, fans started speculating in the comments, claiming that “Balance” will be the album’s name. But, these are all rumours, as Rihanna hasn’t confirmed anything herself. All fans can do for now is wait patiently for the star to release her highly-anticipated ninth album.
