Despite the lack of crowd, Times Square will still push through with this upcoming New Year’s Eve Ball with plenty of music and performances.
Organizers will be using technology to their advantage by having a combination of television and streaming because the show must go on!
Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment will be co-organizers of the New Year’s Eve event. They also announced that singer-songwriter Andra Day will be headlining the event live, commercial-free and with a TV pool feed.
Andra Day will be performing her Grammy Award-nominated single “Rise Up,” as well as “Forever Mine.” She will also be continuing the New Year’s Eve tradition of singing John Lennon’s Imagine just before the Ball Drop Celebration as every one counts the final seconds before the new year.
The co-organizers of the event has announced the lineup which includes Gloria Gaynor, Pitbull, Anitta, Jennifer Lopez, Billy Porter, Cyndi Lauper, Jimmie Allen, Machine Gun Kelly, The Waffle Crew, and USO Show Troupe, as well as special activities and appearances that will happen throughout the evening.
The live commercial-free webcast will begin at 6:00 PM ET covering the lighting and raising of the New Year’s Eve Ball atop One Times Square, and will last for six hours.
