Jamie Clayton to Star in Hulu’s Upcoming “Hellraiser” Reboot

Hulu recently unveiled its cast for their modern-day rendition of “Hellraiser” that’s said to be “terrifying, amazing, and jaw-dropping” according to the movie’s producer, David S. Goyer. The cast announcement revealed that Pinhead, the iconic star of the film, will be portrayed by a woman this time around.

Jamie Clayton is set to portray the demonic creature in the re-imagined reboot, alongside Brandon Flynn, Goran Visnjic, Drew Starkey, Adam Faison, Aoife Hinds, Selina Lo and Hiam Abbass. According to Clive Barker, the writer and director of the 1987 original, the new rendition is not what he expected, in the best way possible.

“Having seen some of the designs from David Bruckner’s new ‘Hellraiser’ film, they pay homage to what the first film created, but then take it to places it’s never been before,” Barker said in a statement. “This is ‘Hellraiser’ on a scale that I simply didn’t expect. David and his team are steeped in the story’s mythology, but what excites me is their desire to honor the original even as they revolutionize it for a new generation.”

Jamie Clayton recently shared a photo of herself as a response to the cast announcement, and fans of the franchise seemed almost unanimously supportive of the decision to cast a woman as Pinhead.

“This is incredible. Hellraiser is my favorite horror movie series. Soo happy to see ur portrayal of the hell priestsess. Congratulations,” one user wrote, as another said, “I almost gagged on my drink! Amazing pick and congrats!”.

As of right now, an official release date for the “Hellraiser” reboot hasn’t been announced, but it’s said that they recently wrapped up production. The film will debut exclusively in the U.S. on Hulu, but it hasn’t been said if it will be released internationally on Disney+.
