“Adele: One Night Only” had us all in our feelings as the long-awaited special delivered heartbreak, romance and emotional power ballads. The concert featured some of her beloved throwback songs with some soon-to-be hits from her new album, “30”, which debuts on Friday, as well as a sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey, intertwined.
The 15-time Grammy-winning singer’s special not only marked the first time she’s performed in years but also the first time her 9-year-old son, Angelo, had seen her in concert.
“This is the first time that my son has ever seen me perform,” Adele said, holding back tears. “It’s the absolute honor of my life, baby, to have you here tonight. And you look so beautiful and so handsome and smart.”
During Adele’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, the two sat down in Winfrey’s rose garden to discuss the inspiration behind her new songs, her recent weight loss, life after divorce and raising her son, Angelo.
In the midst of all of the emotions, Adele delivered a delightful surprise, as she helped a man propose to his girlfriend. The blindfolded girlfriend was star-struck when the surprise unfolded, especially once Adele started serenading the two with her hit song, “Make You Feel My Love”.
After all that Adele’s primetime special brought to the table, it’s safe to say fans were feeling a whole mix of emotions. In fact, viewers took to Twitter to express their praise and thoughts on the special.
This is the only way to do a public proposal. If you’re gonna have me crying in front of bare people better make sure Adele is one of them https://t.co/w9N3NCJWrq

She was flat-out extraordinary. Her voice. Her energy. Her vulnerability. Those gorgeous lyrics echoing across the Observatory? The slayage of that magnificent gown? The down-to-earth Oprah interview? Just top-notch all around. Felt fortunate to be there. A special night. #Adele https://t.co/uziyiLT0nW

I’m grateful Adele is doing this concert to ease us into the album release because whew, it’s clearly gonna fuck us all up.
