Will “Squid Game” Get a Season 2? Here’s Everything We Know

Netflix’s latest hit, “Squid Game”, recently took the world by storm with its suspenseful, spine-chilling plot. The K-drama is said to possibly become the platform’s most popular show ever, according to Ted Sarandos, the co-CEO of Netflix.

“‘Squid Game’ will definitely be our biggest non-English language show in the world, for sure,” Sarandos said. “There’s a very good chance it’s going to be our biggest show ever.”

Due to the show’s surprising success, there has to be a second season in the works, right? While many viewers have their hopes held high, Netflix hasn’t dropped any hints on whether or not “Squid Game” will be renewed.

The making of “Squid Game” was first announced in 2019. Two years later, it was finally released to the streaming platform. That being said, it’s likely that a second season of the show wouldn’t come to Netflix for quite some time if renewed.

According to writer-director Hwang Dong-hyuk, the first season took a lot out of him, as he was the one and only writer of the show.

“I don’t have well-developed plans for ‘Squid Game 2.’ It is quite tiring just thinking about it. But if I were to do it, I would certainly not do it alone. I’d consider using a writers’ room and would want multiple experienced directors,” he said in an interview with Variety.
