Riverdale Season 5 Trailer, Release Date, Cast & Plot

Riverdale season 5 trailer has finally arrived and it’s picking up straight from where it left off in season 4. Like many shows, the teen drama series wrapped its latest season early due to production constraints amid the coronavirus pandemic. Its 19th episode served as the season 4 finale of the show. However, after the long break, the series has resumed filming, and season 5 is now just around the corner.

What will happen in Riverdale Season 5?

“We’re essentially starting the season with the last three episodes of season 4, and partly because they’re dynamite episodes,” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed previously. “I mean big, big, big changes happen. We are continuing the mystery and the relationship drama straight into season 5.”

Moreover, the show will move ahead into the future, which actress Lili Reinhart confirmed during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

“We’re actually doing a seven-year time jump into the future so we’re not going to be teenagers anymore,” she told the show. “I’m really psyched about it. I think it will be really nice to play an adult. But I also really appreciate that Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa], our showrunner, said let’s revamp. So we’re not just stuck in high school for seven seasons.”

Who is included in Riverdale Season 5’s cast?

Series protagonists KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Cole Sprouse, and Camila Mendes will return to reprise their roles Archie, Betty, Jughead, and Veronica respectively. They will be joined by cast regulars Madelaine Petsch, Vanessa Morgan, Charles Melton and Casey Cott.

Alongside the regular cast, Drew Ray Tanner’s Fangs Fogarty will return for series 5 as a mainstay character. Aguirre-Sacasa shared the news on his social media saying, “Thrilled with this news!! @DrewRayTanner is a series regular on #Riverdale starting this season!!! Fangs Fogarty has come a LOOOOONG way from the comic books!!!”

In addition, Insatiable star Erinn Westbrook will also appear in season 5 as Tabitha Tate, the granddaughter of Pop Tate.
