Lucifer Recruits New Cast Members For Season 6

Lucifer season 6 will be the final outing of Netflix’s popular supernatural police procedural series starring Tom Ellis. It follows the titular devil who left hell behind and came to earth to experience the lives of humans. While he runs a nightclub, Lucifer also assists the LAPD with various cases after crossing paths with Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German).

With Lucifer’s production for season 6 already underway, new additions to the cast have been unveiled. According to a report by EW, Brianna Hildebrand and Merrin Dungey have joined for the series’ final outing. Hildebrand is notable for her role in the Deadpool franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, whereas Dungey previously appeared in Star Trek: Picard.

The Deadpool actress will play Rory, a “rebellious, angsty, and ready-to-start-some-trouble angel.” She aspires to follow Lucifer’s footsteps, but soon realizes he isn’t “the devilish big bro she hoped he’d be.” On the other hand, Dungey will play Sonya, a “no-nonsense uniform cop who forms an unlikely bond with Amenadiel [DB Woodside].”

Series showrunner Idly Modrovich also confirmed the announcement by reposting the article report. On her Twitter account, she wrote “BEYOND thrilled to have one of my college BFFs on the show!! I [heart emoji] you @RealMerrinD ! And wait till y’all see #BriannaHildebrand — she kicks asss!!!! Welcome to Hell, ladies!!!! #Lucifer”

What could we expect from them in Lucifer Season 6?

On the contrary, it will be a while before we even meet these new characters. That’s because season 5 part 2 has yet to happen and was ultimately delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. The first half which dropped on Netflix last August, saw Lucifer return to Hell to fulfill his duties. However, the arrival of his twin brother Michael on Earth drew him back. It concluded with a major appearance from their father, God (Dennis Haysbert) himself.

Hence, when season 5B eventually does premiere, it’ll dive into the aftermath of the midseason’s finale. It should tackle what happens right after God’s descend from Heaven to break up Lucifer, Amenadiel, and Michael’s precinct fight.

Speaking about how God’s arrival in season 5B will affect his character, Ellis says “It takes him back to a very primal place, and his feelings are very raw.”

“I’m just so happy and so proud of what we’ve done. The first two episodes of the second half of season 5 are my two favorite episodes of the season, without a doubt,” he added.

The first eight episodes of Lucifer season 5 are now available for streaming on Netflix. Season 5B has yet to arrive, with a premiere date still unknown up to this day.
