Thor’s Kat Dennings To Play A Bigger Role In Marvel TV’s WandaVision

WandaVision is one of the Marvel series slated to debut on Disney+, starring Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany as Vision. The series will pick up with the two following the events of Avengers: Endgame as they settle into domesticated life. Thor star Kat Dennings joins the cast, and to her surprise, she’s playing a bigger role than she initially expected.

Dennings first joined the MCU in 2011’s Thor as Jane Foster’s (Natalie Portman) wise-cracking assistant Darcy Lewis. She returned to reprise her role in Thor: The Dark World, but has remained out of the franchise since then. Since Jane didn’t appear in Thor: Ragnarok and her character is tied to Jane’s, fans weren’t too surprised by that. What shocked them though was the news that Darcy will finally return to MCU, but not through the Thor franchise. Instead, she is set to appear in WandaVision.

In a recent interview, Dennings admitted she was quite surprised to get the call asking her to return to MCU. “It was a surprise the first time I got a call,” she remarked on the time she was first casted in Thor.

However, for WandaVision, her role came to be far more than she expected. Dennings shared, “Getting that phone call was just – I almost thought it was just going to be a scene or something, I didn’t realize what it was.”

“Just a delight! Just a gift, and an exciting thing to do. And I think anyone who liked Darcy from the movies will be thrilled,” she happily continued.

What can we expect from Marvel TV’s WandaVision?

While Dennings couldn’t say much else about WandaVision, she did share her thoughts on Darcy now being pairing with Wanda. “I’ll just say that I was thrilled and it was somewhat of a surprise, what they planned for her,” she commented.

Nothing has been confirmed yet about Darcy’s role in the series, but speculations arise that she’ll be working with SWORD. Since Darcy’s appearance in WandaVision came totally unprecedented, fans can expect surprises in store for her in the series.

On November 12, Disney confirmed in a video announcement via Instagram that WandaVision will premiere on January 15.

Marvel Entertainment also released the official trailer of the series on its YouTube page last September.

The trailer caption reads, “The series is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.”
