Stranger Things Season 4: Creators Tease Monster Comeback In Series Of Cryptic Posts

As the Stranger Things season 4 continues its production, fans consistently follow news and update for its much-awaited return. The Duffers brothers, show’s creators, recently mentioned their famous monster Demogorgon, in a couple of social media posts. What could its fate be in the upcoming season?

The Demogorgon is long thought to be dead following its downfall in season 1. However, season 3 cliffhanger left a hint at its possible comeback in the succeeding season. In the final scenes of series four, the Russians were revealed to have kept the monster as their pet. Hence, they could also be assumed to be involved in its reemergence.

The showrunners then took to Twitter to tease fans with this possibility by sharing a couple of videos. It came as a flashback video from a scene in season 1. The footage shows a rolling dice from the Dungeons & Dragons game.

“What if it’s the Demogorgon?” they captioned the video.

It can be remembered that Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas used to play this game. This was a night where the boys gathered at Mike’s house, and the Demogorgon was first introduced. Will took him as its hostage in the Upside Down.

Moreover, the Duffers further hinted its return with another image of a cactus flower that resembles the creature. They curiously asked, “Ok is THIS a Demogorgon?”

One theory suggests the Demogorgon’s reappearance in season 4 might have resulted from previous installment’s Russian Lab at Starcourt mall. Jim Hopper (David Harbour) and Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) tried to shut the machine down drilling through the Upside Down. However, they blew up the lab too in the process. As a result, the explosion could have blasted the wall and allowed the monster to come up to the surface.

What else could we expect from Stranger Things season 4?

Apart from the Demogorgon hints, the series also insinuated the first member of “The Hellfire Club.” In a photo posted in the show’s Twitter, Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) was wearing a shirt printed with the club’s name.

In addition, they also shared a video of him carrying the club’s banner.

The Duffer brothers earlier confirmed that season 4 would extend beyond Hawkins, Indiana. Its series four teaser video on YouTube ends with a cryptic phrase, “We’re Not in Hawkins Anymore.”

Its Netflix synopsis reads, “It’s not all good news for our ‘American;’ he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human… and other. Meanwhile, back in the states, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything.”
