Riverdale Season 5: Showrunner Drops Photo Suggesting A New Villain

Throughout its four season run, Riverdale has featured some of the wildest and most disturbing unexpected villains on television. From a town serial killer in hood and organ-harvesting cult leaders to board game-controlling monsters, name it! The show has never run out of startling surprises for its mystery-loving fans. Season 5 might just add another to its list as new photos from the upcoming season teased a gnarly-looking truck. What could this tell us and what danger could this spell for the gang?Β

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa may have just revealed the new villain for season 5 in a Halloween post on Instagram. Posting a photo of a large truck with a skeleton chained to the front, the image sends off major creepy vibes.

His caption reads, β€œBeware the Lonely Highway, and the truck that cruises its byways at night,” suggesting forthcoming trouble for everyone in Riverdale.

Fans are somehow convinced that this truck will be central to the deadly season 5 story. This is because Aguirre-Sacasa also posted a promo image showing a truck chasing a woman a few months ago.

The question, however, is who could be driving this truck? Or even more mystifying, is anyone even driving this truck to begin with? Some fan theories suggest that the fifth season will feature a killer truck with a mind of its own. While Riverdale loves to play around supernatural genres, it’s always managed to find humanizing rationales to explain strange phenomena.

Fans will have to tune in for more updates to find out more about this mysterious truck.

What else do we know about Riverdale Season 5?

Unlike the past seasons, most details on Riverdale Season 5 are still being kept under wraps ahead of its premiere. For one, fans already know a lot about the first three episodes of the upcoming season. After all, they’re supposed to be the last three episodes of Season 4 before the coronavirus pandemic cut it short. These episodes will take on the prom, graduation, and finally solving the video tapes mystery.

Another plot revelation is the big time jump, which will age everyone up seven years after the graduation episode. The show will skip the gang’s college years, and we will be introduced to the new lives of the Core Four. By this time, nobody has any idea how much one has already changed. More importantly, what new evil could possibly have brought them back together in another case-solving mysteries surrounding Riverdale.

Season 5 of Riverdale premieres January 20, 2021 on The CW.Β
