The first season of FOX’s Prodigal Son is airing on Sky One but us, fans, want to know when can we expect another season of the killer drama series? With that, we also have a few things to tell you in relation to season two of the show.
To all prodigal sons and daughters, let us rejoice because FOX has officially announced in May that the show has been indeed renewed for a second season. Prodigal Son premiered on FOX in the United States and has recently dominated Sky One and NOW TV in the UK. The outstanding performances of Michael Sheen and Tom Payne only enhancing the exquisite storyline of the show.
It’s critically-acclaimed and we obviously want more. However, given that there is a pandemic going on and it has caused delays in many, many productions around the world, when can we expect Prodigal Son Season to to start production and do we know anything about the series’ next installation?

With all the delays in filming because of the pandemic, everyone thought that it would only last until October of this year. However, without any word from FOX or the show’s creators, we do not know if they have already started. We could assume that it has to appease our hearts and that if everything goes right, we could possibly see Prodigal Season 2 early next year.
As for the plot of the Prodigal Son Season 2, it’s quite early to make any prediction but based on how the latter part of last season explored a bit more of Malcolm’s psychopathic tendencies, we might be seeing more of that in the upcoming season.
Fans also want to know if his “evilness” was something that was inherited through Malcolm’s DNA or did his choices lead him to choose being evil? We are hoping for more philosophical puzzles behind his evil nature. However, given that it’s psychological illnesses are a sensitive topic, they might just go with a generic psycho framework. Ones that are similar to Hannibal Lecter.
If you’re in the UK, you might be one of the unlucky ones because Sky One hasn’t announced anything regarding picking up the series. And, if it does air on the channel, it will be after the show’s launch in the United States.

So, When Will Be Prodigal Season 2 Be Released?
In an interview, Tom Payne revealed that the filming for the Prodigal Son Season 2 is due to start in October 2020 in New York. However, there are concerns on how the cast and crew will be traveling to different filming locations and if ever, abroad, after being locked down due to the pandemic.
He says “We’re going to start filming hopefully in a couple of weeks, in October. We’ve got to figure out how we’re gonna get there… It’s a whole journey across America that has to happen before we can start shooting again.
“We’re all doing the same thing really in that we’ll all have a [coronavirus] test wherever we’re coming from, and then we’ll travel, and then we’ll have another test, and then quarantine for a couple of weeks.”
