Fans of the historical drama are no doubt enduring a longer Droughtlander this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. They count on any information they can hold about Outlander series six or Diana Gabaldon’s upcoming novel, Go Tell the Bees that I am Gone. Luckily, Jamie Fraser star Sam Heughan has spilled some details that has thrilled the anticipating viewers.

Filming for season 6 may be sooner than you think. In a recent interview, Hueghan revealed, “Obviously with covid, things have been delayed, but we are definitely gearing up. I’ve been in a few times for costume fittings.”

He added, “We’re going to have to adapt and look at a new way of working around it, but we’re getting there. I’m excited to go back to work.”

While the drama is well-known for its raunchy scenes, Heughan said that some of these can be tricky to film.

“I’ve now got to stay 2m away from my co-stars so that could provide some really interesting love scenes,” he laughed. “We’ll see.”

However, he also clarified that he believes the love scenes will remain part of the series. “It is an integral part,” says the Jamie Fraser star.

Outlander Season 6: What else do we know?

Series 6 will have to deal with the repercussions of season 5 finale. This includes Claire being kidnapped and assaulted by a group of men, with one of them disappearing by time travelling.

Commenting about Claire’s future on the show, Caitriona Balfe said “one of the things I’m most looking forward to, seeing how she copes with all that; how the family as a whole unit heal together or help her to heal.”

On what fans can further expect, Heughan teased, “We have scenes, we have characters, we have things in the books we haven’t covered. We can call back on stuff.”

“We have seen there are other time travellers out there. It feels as though the universe is opening up a bit more for us to draw upon, as well for the writers.”

Sophie Skelton who plays Jamie Fraser’s daughter Brianna, added, “I feel like in season 5, so much [has] happened. It is almost like every episode was its own little movie. It was so fast paced.”

“Brianna has pretty much been through. But I know that there is even more happening next season and it will be exciting to see what’s left to do,” she continued.

“It is always amazing and I have a feeling it will be an absolutely packed season. It will be nice to get back together and see the crew and everyone.”

Outlander season 6 release date is yet to be confirmed, but seasons 1-5 can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
