Marvel TV’s Loki Release Date, Cast & Trailer

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand with several streaming shows set to link to the upcoming phase of movies. Unfortunately, production on these projects was halted this summer by the coronavirus pandemic. Months after the long delay, Loki, one of these slated Disney+ series resumes production. What do we know about its release date, cast, and trailer? Read on!

When is Loki’s release date?

It was first confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con that Loki will be released in Spring 2021. However, the pandemic has ravaged countries all over the world, prompting all production on Marvel’s Disney+ shows to be halted. While this could potentially delay the release of the series, no official confirmation on the date has been made yet.

On the other hand, series star Gugu Mbatha-Raw revealed in an interview that Loki has already resumed filming. “I’m obviously sworn to secrecy about everything to do with Loki, but it feels great to be back,” she said.

“Everyone is trying to do it as safely as possible under the circumstances, and it feels good. I’m excited. It’s a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to see it.”

What is Loki’s plot and who is its cast?

Tom Hiddleston plays Loki, Thor’s troublesome adoptive brother. He is a charming, funny, and mischievous villain who goes from bad guy to anti-hero and back. The series will follow him as he travels through time after gaining control of Tesseract during the events of Endgame.

Marvel executive Kevin Feige explained, “I got asked more than any other question after Endgame, ‘where did Loki go, what happened to Loki? This series will tell you what happened to Loki right after that.”

“You guys saw Avengers, right?” Hiddleston added. “So he’s still that guy. And just about the last thing that happened to him was he got Hulk smashed. So there’s a lot of psychological evolution that is still yet to happen.”

“Kevin has generously shown me what his plans are – I can’t tell you any of them – but it is one of the most exciting creative opportunities I think I’ve ever come across. This is new territory, a new world, new challenges, and I cannot wait to get started,” remarked Hiddleston.

The cast also includes Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sasha Lane, Sophia Di Martino, and Richard E. Grant.

Is there a trailer available for Loki?

As of the moment, no official trailer for the series has been released. However, for its premiere in the last Super Bowl, Marvel Studios released a 30-second video  trailer. It contained glimpses of what’s in store for upcoming Disney+ series, including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision.
