Former Queen Of The South Star Lands A Role In Netflix’s Ozark

Queen of the South’s Javier Jiménez (played by Alfonso Herrera) recently landed a huge role in Netflix’s drama, Ozark. Co-star Alice Braga and others took to social media to send their words of congratulations to the actor.

Herrera easily became one of Queen of the South’s most notable players during his two-season stint on the show. Known as a ruthless sicario, Javier used to work closely with the series’ lead Teresa Mendoza (Braga). He exited the show towards the end of the fourth season, suffering from a horrid death. Javier sacrificed himself, taking revenge and burning alongside Randall Green (Cory Hart) to death in an explosive final moment.

While Herrera’s death meant he’s no longer appearing in QOTS, fans will still be able to catch him in Ozark. The Emmy-winning Netflix drama looks just as promising, providing just as much drama.

Herrera was announced as a new series regular for the show’s fourth and final season. In his personal Instagram account, the actor shared the news saying, “Feliz! Feliz! Feliz!”

The post, with over 40,000 likes as of writing, saw his former co-stars express their excitement at the casting news.

Alice Braga, who plays the titular queen Teresa was one of the stars who reacted, commenting, “YEAHHH [love heart emojis].”

Kelly Anne Van Awken star Molly Burnett also satisfyingly approved the news saying, “YES!!!!! [applause emoji].”

Veronica Falcon aka Camila Vargas, on the other hand, praised the actor replying, “Bravo Poncho!!!! Esoooooo [thumbs up emoji].”

Queen of The South Season 5 officially resumes production

Queen of the South faced several delays due to the coronavirus pandemic, failing to release over the summer as scheduled. Season 5 has just started production back then, and has not filmed a lot of materials yet.

“We stopped as soon as COVID started,” Braga explained. “So we’re going to go back, I think, end of October, beginning of November. Finally, they gave us the green-light.”

Early this month, Braga and her co-stars finally confirmed filming resumption sharing BTS on set through their Instagram pages.
