Emily in Paris officially gets the green light for season 2. Created by Darren Star, Lily Collins plays the titular role Emily in this comedy-drama series. Born Midwestern girl from Chicago, she moves to Paris to introduce the American perspective to a luxurious French marketing firm.

On Wednesday, November 11, Netflix confirmed Emily in Paris would return for a second season. The announcement was made through a fictional note supposedly penned by Emily’s boss Sylvie Grateau (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu).

“Despite her overconfident manner and lack of prior experience in luxury goods marketing, she has nonetheless managed to charm some of our hard-to-impress clients during her short time at Savoir,” the letter reads. “Call it bonne chance, or American ingenuity—I’m leaning towards the former—her results are impressive.”

It continues, “We hope that by extending her time in Paris, Emily will further the relationships she has already made, delve deeper into our culture, and perhaps pick up a few words of basic French.”

His note finally ends with, “We love having Emily in Paris! But please don’t let her know that.”

Netflix has also unveiled an announcement video on Twitter following the letter confirmation. The video features the series’ stars as they repeat the French word “Deux” (meaning ‘two’ in English). This indicates that the hit series will return for more Parisian adventures on Netflix.

What will happen in Emily In Paris season 2?

Before the news of renewal, creator Star said he has some ideas for the next season. “I don’t know about season two yet, but I think Emily has some surprising tough choices,” he explained. “The show’s so much about the culture undermining her expectations of how things are and how things seem. And everything will not be as it seems. It’s always about challenging her American worldview. We certainly have a lot of forks in the road and a lot of places to go.”

“In season 2, she’s going to be more of a part of the fabric of the world she’s living in. She’ll be more of a resident of the city,” Star told OprahMag.com. “She’ll have her feet on the ground a little more. She’s making a life there.”

When will Emily In Paris season 2 be released?

As of the moment, we don’t know yet when Emily in Paris will return or when its production will begin. The show was actually filmed in Paris, and with the pandemic still posing a threat, delays in production is probable. However, some shows have started filming already, so it will only be a matter of time before they do too.
