The Stand Trailer – CBS All Access Releases First Full Look at Stephen King Show

Since its announcement in August, CBS has been stirring up some excitement for their upcoming dark fantasy television miniseries, The Stand. Based on the 1978 novel of the same name, CBS plans to bring Stephen King’s narrative to a screen near you.

On October 9th, The Stand released its series trailer on their YouTube channel. The television adaptation is set to release on December 17th, giving fans plenty of time to prepare for the new series’ reveal.

Fans are clearly excited about the new series, they aren’t the only ones. Stephen King expressed his excitement in an interview with Mick Garris on his podcast, where he says, “CBS All Access would really like this to work,” King added. “And they’ve put a lot of muscle behind it. So I’m hopeful. But it’s early days yet… so. The casting isn’t complete. My son Owen has written some of the scripts, and they’re terrific. So. It’s good.”

In the trailer, we get a glimpse of the current state of the post-pandemic world, caused by a  weaponized strain of influenza that wiped out almost the entire population. Later in the trailer, survivors are shown gathering together to prepare to take back their lives and restore humanity.
