The Crown Season 4: Netflix Releases Official Teaser Trailer

Netflix has just released its first official trailer for The Crown season 4. Fans get to have an extensive look at its new cast members and the foreboding drama in the royal family.

Netflix

“Here is the stuff of which fairy tales are made: a prince and princess on their wedding day,” the trailer begins to narrate alongside a montage of Charles and Diana’s budding relationship.

“But fairy tales usually end at this point,” the narration continues as it showed glimpses of Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher.

Netflix

“As husband and wife live out their vows, loving and cherishing one another, sharing life’s splendors and miseries, achievements and setbacks, they will be transformed in the process. Our faith sees the wedding day not as the place of arrival, but the place where the adventure really begins.”

With heavy thumping in the background, the trailer evokes the darkness behind the glamour that is within their royal status. Moreover, with shots of Charles, Diana, and other royal family members looking despondent, the trailer suggests more miseries than splendors.

The official synopsis of the show on Netflix reads:

“As the 1970s are drawing to a close, Queen Elizabeth and her family find themselves preoccupied with safeguarding the line of succession by securing an appropriate bride for Prince Charles, who is still unmarried at 30. As the nation begins to feel the impact of divisive policies introduced by Britain’s first female Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher tensions arise between her and the Queen which only grow worse as Thatcher leads the country into the Falklands War, generating conflict within the Commonwealth. While Charles’ romance with a young Lady Diana Spencer provides a much-needed fairytale to unite the British people, behind closed doors, the Royal family is becoming increasingly divided.”
