The first season of Taboo introduced the gripping story along with its fascinating twists and unexpected turns. The cast’s amazing skills not only helped the story come to life but also sent the message through the screen and across the world. As James Delaney, played by Tom Hardy, takes over the operations of his father’s shipping company, he uncovers a few things that may have contributed to his father’s demise.
All these things only add to what the fans really want to know, “When will Taboo Season 2 be aired?”
Tom Hardy is famous for starring as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Inception in the big screen but in the smaller screens, not so much. That is until he became one of the main protagonists in Peaky Blinders and Taboo.
Plot of Taboo Season 2
Taboo’s story is set in 1814 London and revolves around the adventures and misadventures of one James Delaney. In the pilot episode, James’ character is established to be quite the brute and the con artist. The first episode also explored how he just got back from a 12-year project in Africa. Upon returning to London, he soon finds out that his father passed and did not leave him anything of value in his will.
In pursuit to get his inheritance back, James encounters East India Company who was out to kill him for most of the season.
Taboo Season 1 ended with James and what remains of his allies sailing for America. According to executive producer Knight, that episode should have given us a few clues as to what happens to James’ story. He even dropped the bomb in one of his interviews by teasing that James will be heading west and the story will become “more narcotic, more opium-affected” in Taboo Season 2.

So, When Will Taboo Season 2 Be Released?
Taboo is one of those shows that suck you in as soon as you finish an episode. That explains why it was renewed in an instant. Even with the renewal of Taboo for its second season, there is still no news about when the release date be.
Now, we know how discouraging this may be but we do have a few things to share with you about Taboo Season 2! Steven Knight, the show’s executive producer, said in an interview that happened back in 2017 that he was hard at work and he was just “doing it now.” He did disclose that the latest we would see Taboo Season 2 was “well into 2018.”
Well, it’s already 2020 and the pandemic will not be letting anything resume production in the near future.
If there is one thing for sure, the production for Taboo Season 2 is mainly dependent on Tom Hardy’s availability. Hardy was recently shooting Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Although the DC film’s wrapped up, its post-production may take time and may require some reshoots as most movies do.
So, when Tom Hardy is free, cameras will start rolling again for Taboo Season 2.
