A show based on a teenage treasure hunt sounds a bit cliche, but Outer Banks delivers way more than your average beachside adventure. As a matter of fact, the show was so popular with fans (think: a 2.7 million Instagram following to-date), creators agreed to an Outer Banks season 2. So, when and what can we expect from all-new episodes? And, will there be as much nail-biting, adolescent turmoil as there was in season 1?
Plot of Outer Banks Season 2
Pogues versus the Kooks. That’s all you really need to know about Outer Banks, a show set in the swampy Outer Banks of North Carolina. In a battle to acquire the long-missing treasure of John B’s father, these two groups (the Pogues, who are considered to rank at the lower economic and social end of society, and the Kooks, who are popular and wealthy in their community) clash and must find a way to survive to the end of the hunt alive and well.
Along the way, John B, the Pogues’ leader, falls for Kook key player, Sarah. All while hunting for John B’s father’s treasure, the two try to keep their budding romance a secret, as John B’s fellow Pogue friends, JJ, Kiara and Pope view such a relationship as a dangerous breach of trust. Viewers later find throughout the first season that John B and Sarah aren’t the only ones keeping big secrets. Filled with high-speed chases with law enforcement and drug dealers, friendship troubles and a class divide so clear it bleeds through the screen, Outer Banks captures the Pogues’ and Kooks’ wild ride toward gold.
As far as the season 2 plot, we can only hope to find answers to the dramatic, mysterious ending of season 1 (John B and Sarah, are you all good?) and see our favorite cast members on screen again.
