Lucifer Season 6 Begins Filming As Season 5 Is Completed – Showrunner Announces

Showrunner Joe Henderson surprises fans of the supernatural drama Lucifer after giving updates about season 5 and 6’s production.

It can be recalled that back in March, the series paused their filming for season 5. Like the many shows that temporarily shut down their productions, it suffered the same fate due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, reports later claimed that the drama finally resumed production on September 24. They will finish the 16th and final episode of season 5. After wrapping up the finale, the team will proceed directly into filming for the show’s sixth and final season.

Previously, Netflix said that the series would end after season 5, only to take it back. Nonetheless, they again reassured audiences that the sixth season will indeed be Lucifer’s last.

Lucifer season 6 filming officially begins

In a recent tweet, Henderson shared that shooting for season six has finally commenced. This shortly followed after season five filming completion.

He wrote, “Today is our first day of shooting #Lucifer season 6! So happy we’ve finished up season 5, and we will be working our buns off to get it finished and to Netflix!”

“Thanks to our incredible cast and crew for working hard and safe and delivering a kickass finale!!”

The announcement was met with outpouring positive feedback from fans who can’t wait for their favorite show’s return on screen.

“So happy to hear that S5 is finished filming and can’t wait to see the great season finale! I know with all the new safety measures it’s not easy for the cast & crew that’s why we all appreciate the work & passion you put into Lucifer even more, wishing the best for S6,” one ecstatic fan replied.

Created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg, Lucifer is based on the Sandman Universe character of the same name. Originally premiered on Fox in 2016, the series was initially canceled after three seasons. Netflix then revived Lucifer for season 4 in 2019, subsequently renewing it for season 5 and 6.

Season 5 of the series is split into two parts, with its first half hitting Netflix back in August. Part 2 still lacks an official release date, so does season 6.

Lucifer stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, D.B. Woodside, Rachael Harris, Kevin Alejandro, Lesley-Ann Brandt and Aimee Garcia.
