In a photo of himself posted in his Twitter account last Friday, suspicions of his possible return to the franchise aroused. Montgomery is wearing a white tank top with fake blood splattered on the shoulder. From the looks of it, he is getting ready for his hair and makeup before actually heading to the set. Fans quickly reacted after noticing similarities of his look to Billy’s due to his messy hair, shirt, necklace, and mustache.

Is Dacre Montgomery likely to return to Stranger Things season 4?

In a trip down memory lane, Season 3 finale saw the Mind Flayer killing Billy after he saved Eleven. This moment left mark in the hearts of fans who were hoping he would come back in the next season. However, it remains unclear if that’s a possibility.

In an interview back in July 2019, Montgomery said Billy’s death was already predestined. “We constructed it this way from the beginning,” he said. “I knew it was coming in that this was going to be the outcome. And I don’t think I would have been given the season that Billy had if I wasn’t dying.”

He furthered, “I think because I was on my way out, I was given an amazing opportunity to do a wide array of things. I’m very grateful.”

In view of that, it seems like Billy’s character may not be coming back. Moreover, the photo could be from his role in Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Elvis Presley feature, since that’s also in production.

The actor’s post could not have come at a better time amid filming resumption for Stranger Things season 4. Production recommenced this early October in Atlanta, Georgia. As far as leaked set photos of the set show, there has been no sighting of Billy so far. Fans will then have to wait until the creators confirm Montgomery’s return to the show.

Stranger Things season 4 has yet to release an official date for the series’ premiere. Meanwhile, a short trailer was shared in their official social media account last Valentine’s day.

Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Priah Ferguson, Cary Elwes, Jake Busey and Maya Thurman-Hawke. Stream the first three seasons exclusively on Netflix.
