As a redemption, Teresa had secured a deal with drug dealer Oksana Volkova (Vera Cherny). She has strong connections with the Russian mafia in New York where Teresa is planning to expand.

This recent partnership will enable her empire to expand even further, leading her to become the ultimate queenpin.

However, the future which was first seen in the premiere season whether happening or not in the fifth series is still undetermined.

USA Network confirmed earlier this year that Queen of the South will return for a fifth season. However, productions postponed back in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is unclear then when it will be released.

In terms of additional seasons past the fifth installment, the likeness is still a possibility.

Showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez said in an interview that there has been no confirmation yet for a season six of Queen of the South.

“We don’t have a pickup [from the network] for season six. We have no idea what’s on the cards,” Rodriguez said.

“We’re just taking it day by day, thrilled that people are responding to the show like this right now. We’re so happy that people like what we’re doing and we’re really proud of it.”

While season six has not been confirmed, Rodriguez did affirm that she had an “overall plan for Teresa’s arc.”

Rodriguez said she knew where Teresa would end up, but did not give hints about the future of the show. However, from the sounds of it, the creators of the show are hoping for more seasons following series five.
