Is Season 4 The Last Season of Riverdale?

Riverdale’s fourth season saw a premature finale as their production came to a sudden halt. This was after one of its crew came in contact with an individual who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

“The health and safety of our employees, casts and crews is always our top priority,” said Warner Bros. TV spokesperson. “We have and will continue to take precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world. Out of an abundance of caution, production on Riverdale is currently suspended.”

The CW drama, which was in the middle of filming for episode 20, was then cut short. Thus, causing fans in an uproar, wondering if the show will be canceled or be renewed for season 5. The fourth season originally had 22 episodes, but ended only with a total of 19 episodes.

Fortunately, lovers of the Archie Comics series can stop worrying as the creators confirmed that there will be a fifth season.

Back in January, CW announced renewals for its 13 shows including Riverdale. President Mark Pedowitz said in a press release that the early decision gives their production teams a head start in plotting story arcs. “This also provides us with a strong foundation of established, fan-favorite CW shows to build on for next season,” added Pedowitz.

When is Riverdale’s Season 5 coming out?

While it was originally set to air this October, delays in the production is likely inevitable especially with the pandemic’s aftermath. This means that the upcoming season may not premiere at the same date it was previously planned.

However, the pre-production pushed through as creator/showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa hinted in a post on Instagram. He posed for a photo with some of the Riverdale cast members.
