On Thursday, Oct. 28, Facebook announced that it will take on a new company name: Meta. It wasn’t long before the news spread like wildfire across the internet, and one platform’s users, in particular, had a lot to say about the name change.
Facebook, now officially called Meta, was unveiled at the Facebook Connect augmented and virtual reality conference. According to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the new name is meant to reflect the company’s growing ambitions beyond social media and into the world of virtual reality.
“Today we are seen as a social media company, but in our DNA we are a company that builds technology to connect people, and the metaverse is the next frontier just like social networking was when we got started,” Mark Zuckerberg said.
Thousands upon thousands of tweets have been made about the recent news, bringing users together, just not in the way Zuckerberg thinks.
Facebook is changing its name to Meta. "Knock knock!" "Who's there?" "Meta!" "Meta who?" "Meta whistleblower & instead of improving the way we do business, we're gonna pretend to be a new business!"

cool thing about Meta is that I don't have to waste time eventually realizing that it's horrible in every way again.
