Paramount Pictures Debuts First Look at Upcoming “Scream” Sequel

“Scream” has become one of the most iconic horror franchises of all time, ever since it debuted in 1996. With its fourth sequel released in 2011, fans have been disappointed with the lack of new material in recent years, but that’s all about to change.

Paramount Pictures released the first trailer for “Scream” today, starring Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox. The film will be the fifth installment of the franchise and is set to debut in a theaters-only premiere Jan. 14, 2022.

The film will pick up years after the events of “Scream 4” and is touted as a direct sequel to Scream (and not one of those pesky remakes). Needless to say, fans are excited. Director Wes Craven has said that he believes fans will be satisfied with his interpretation of what “Scream” should be moving forward.

According to IMDB, the fifth installment will follow Sidney Prescott (played by Neve Campbell) on her move from California to New York after winning a prestigious writing grant. After settling into her new Manhattan home, she is once again stalked by Ghostface (played by Jeremy Allen White).

Shortly after the trailer was posted on Paramount’s YouTube, fans of the franchise flooded the comments with their reactions to the upcoming sequel.

One user wrote, “Can’t want for this movie to be released, it’s gonna be awesome! Got strong hopes for this one,” as another said, “‘I’m Sidney Prescott, of course I have a gun’ that was the badass line EVER,”.
