Netflix Unveils Trailer for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Tick, Tick… Boom!”

Netflix recently debuted the trailer for the highly-anticipated film adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s musical, “Tick, Tick… Boom!”. Larson will be played by Andrew Garfield, as he makes the switch from starring in action movies to musicals.

The film is set in 1990 New York City and follows the journey of Jon Larson as he writes a soon-to-be-legendary musical, “Rent”. Larson is under pressure from nearly everyone around him, including his girlfriend Susan and his friend Michael, who both have large dreams of their own. The musical aims to answer one commonly pondered question: What do we do with the time we have?

“Tick, Tick… Boom!” is directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who’s making his “feature directorial debut” with the musical’s release, according to Netflix. The film is written by Steven Levenson and produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard for Imagine Entertainment, alongside Julie Oh.

The film comes to theaters Nov. 12 and then is set to release on Netflix Nov. 19, 202. “Tick, Tick… Boom!” will debut its full soundtrack Nov. 12 from Sony Music Masterworks. The film’s first single was released today, titled “30/90” and performed by Andrew Garfield.
