Ronda Rousey Gives Birth to Her First Daughter

Ronda Rousey and Travis Browne welcomed their baby daughter into the world on Monday, naming her La’akea Makalapuaokalanipō Browne. The name stems from former heavyweight Travis Browne’s Hawaiian heritage and is common among names for girls in Hawaii.

The newborn’s first name, La’akea, can be translated into two meanings. “La’a” means sacred and holy, while “kea” means light. Together, the name is defined as “sacred light”. On the contrary, the middle name “Makalapuaokalanipō” doesn’t have a direct English translation and is more of a traditional Hawaiian name.

Rousey shared a post to Instagram on Monday, revealing the birth of La’akea to the world.

The couple first started dating in 2015. Two years later, Browne popped the question to Rousey, eventually tying the knot in Hawaii in August 2017. Both Browne and Rousey have shared their desire to start a family in the past.

In an interview with Us Weekly in 2019, Rousey said, “With me and my husband trying to start a family, we are very fortunate to be in a very secure position now. But that is not something that is foolproof, you know, anybody can lose everything at any time. This is not something that’s like, you know, just the problem of a few.”
