Netflix Releases “Britney vs Spears” Documentary Trailer

Netflix recently debuted the trailer for the long-awaited Britney Spears documentary, titled “Britney vs Spears”. The Netflix project uncovers details about the pop star’s long-drawn-out battle for freedom, as she’s been placed under a conservatorship for over 13 years by her father, Jamie Spears.

The trailer starts off with a powerful message from the star herself, saying “I just want my life back.” Later on, Spears states that she’s, “worked her whole life,” and doesn’t “owe these people anything.”

These statements came from an audio recording from her June 23 testimony at the Los Angeles Superior Courthouse. It was then that she faced the court for the first time publicly, begging the judge for her freedom.

The 94-minute film has been in the works for over a year, all while the #FreeBritney movement has been in full force. The documentary is said to unveil details about the cruel legal arrangement and her father’s involvement.

According to Erin Lee Carr, the director of the film, the piece gives the audience a full run-down of the conservatorship saga.

Carr said she wanted it to be “the definitive place to understand the beginning, middle and hopefully what we will find out as the end of this saga”.

Carr also told the Los Angeles Times, “If you care about women, you should watch this movie. If you care about mental health, you should watch this movie. If you’re a fan of Britney Spears, you should watch this movie.”

“Britney vs Spears” is set to release exclusively on Netflix Sept. 28, the day before a possible life-changing hearing that could remove Jamie Spears from her conservatorship.
