AMAs: Taylor Swift Won 3 Awards but She was MIA

If you haven’t heard, Taylor Swift bagged three American Music Awards last Sunday.

She won three awards: the Climactic Favorite Artist Award, Favorite Pop/Rock Female Music Video Award (“Cardigan”), and Artist of the Year Award. We all had our doubts that she would win anything, even Taylor Swift herself, because of the Scooter Braun situation.

In the acceptance speech she filmed, she expressed her gratitude to everyone and she told the viewers why she was missing in action. “The reason I’m not there tonight is I’m actually recording all of my old music in the studio where we originally recorded it…So it’s been amazing and I can’t wait for you to hear it.”

When Taraji P. Henson announced that Taylor Swift won Artist of the Year award, we got to see and hear her reaction. Saying that “This is a fan-voted award, which means so much to me,” she said. “You guys have been beyond wonderful all the years of my career, but especially this one, when we’ve been so far apart. We haven’t been able to see each other in concert, but I still feel really connected to you through the music,” Swift added, citing “your reaction to ‘Folklore’ and all of the ways in which your imagination honored that album.”

This wasn’t a surprise to fans of the Exile singer as she has become very vocal about everything that has been happening in her life especially this ordeal she has been going through involving her previous albums.

What happened during the American Music Awards amplifies, Taylor Swift’s talent and how fighting for what is right can bring about incredible blessings. Out of all categories that she was nominated in, she only lost “Favorite Pop/Rock Album” to her ex, Harry Styles‘ album entitled “Fine Line”.

Besides Taylor Swift, Who Else Won During the AMAs?

Taylor Swift isn’t the only one who was able to bag three awards. We have The Weeknd who won Favorite Male Soul/R&B Artist, Favorite Soul/R&B Song, and Favorite Soul/R&B Song. We also have Dan + Shay who won Collaboration of the Year, Favorite Country Song, and Favorite Duo or Group.
