This is what Patton Oswalt thinks about your outrage over Trevor Noah’s tweets

Trevor Noah wil be the new host of The Daily Show. The South African comedian is very popular around the world, but in the US, he’s a new face. In attempt to get to know who this guy is (he’s getting one of the best jobs in TV), folks began exploring his twitter feed.

What was found? More than a couple controversial jokes made over the past 6 years, including jokes at the expense of women and Jews.

Noah has since responded, saying that he should not be reduced to a few tweets.

What should we make of this story? I’m not sure. I tend not to allow tweets to carry the day when it comes to individual judgments. We are all more than our twitter feeds, and we’ve all made bad decisions on Twitter. But I also think we’re responsible for our words, and “trying out jokes” is not an impenetrable shield of defense. For me, Noah’s tweets aren’t a huge deal, at the end of the day, but that doesn’t mean we should just forget them. I’m lukewarm on this.

Not so, Patton Oswalt. The comedian took to twitter, and in an epically epic string of tweets, made his feelings known about the outrage machine on Twitter.

Here, in all the comedian-righteousness he can muster, is Patton Oswalt:
