Certain inevitabilities are unavoidable. We all get older, for example, and must face our mortality.
Unless, of course, you are the Wolverine. Then, you just keep on living. The same age, the same bad attitude, on and on. Hugh Jackman was born to play the Wolverine. It’s one of those marriages of part and player that you can’t imagine being torn asunder. But Jackman is not the Wolverine. And it’s bound to end someday.
And, it looks like, he’s admitting that fact. In 2017, the world will get another Wolverine film, and it looks like Hugh Jackman will hang up the claws upon its completion. Jackman posted the following photo to his Instagram feed. And though this is not the first time he’s indicated he might be done with the roll, it does have a certain finality to it.
To one last time, Hugh. You’ve done the part justice, in good movies and bad. The part is iconic, and it will of course be recast. Whoever steps in will have some serious sideburns to fill.
