You might recall Paddington Bear from his many books and stuffed toys. The British bear (by way of South America) was always lovable and cuddly, always ready for the rain in cap and overcoat. This is basically what Paddington has looked like since his arrival in children’s literature in the 1950s.This is how I, and millions, remember him.

But a new generation of kids is going to remember a new version Paddington Bear, thanks to the folks at StudioCanal, who are releasing a live-action film adaptation, Paddington. Not long ago, we got our first glimpse of the new Paddington, ready for the rain, suitcase in paw.

This is not a lovable Paddington Bear. This is a murderous Paddington Bear. I am afraid of this bear.

And I’m not alone. The photo, which is (without question) creepy, has spawned an hilarious meme for those of us old of enough to recognize meme from reality. Hide your kids, everyone, they say Paddington is nearby.
