In case there was any doubt that Amy Poehler is on the side of all that is good and right in this world, she’s just thrown her support behind World Book Night, an event in which authors, publishers, librarians, and booksellers will team up to give away 500,000 books to people who don’t have easy access to reading material. Poehler’s been chosen as the event’s honorary chairperson.
Asked about her involvement, Poehler took the opportunity to talk about her love of books, saying awesome stuff like
In today’s digital world, it’s more important than ever to know how it feels to have a good book in your hands.
and
People who read are people who dream, and we connect through the stories we live and tell and read.
Of course, this should come as no surprise to anyone who’s seen the clip from They Came Together in which Poehler (and Paul Rudd) proclaim their love of “fiction books.”
This year’s World Book Night booklist includes Stake favorites old and new, like The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Catch-22, Tales of the City, Where’d You Go Bernadette, and Bridge to Terabithia.
