Below is my Golden Globes Ballot. The awards are this Sunday, and provide us an opportunity to bask in wealthy self-appreciation, in the company of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, gripe about what the voters get wrong, and show off our own culture-critiquing skills.
You know you love it, too.
A few thoughts:
I hope that The Big Bang Theory and Downtown Abbey lose. The Big Bang Theory isn’t good, and rarely funny anymore, and last the season of Downtown Abbey was simply dreadful.
I hope that either Gravity or 12 Years a Slave win. For differing reasons, they’re both quite worthy winners. And Chiwetel Ejiofor, because I’ve long loved his work, and he’s a deserving winner.
Okay. Here’s a long ballot, courtesy of the LA Times. For a fresh one, click here.
What I want to win is in green. What I want to lose is in red. Additional commentary as needed below. I haven’t seen everything, but that’s never stopped me from choosing before.
Great to see it all laid out like this! I would love to see The Hunt win for Best Foreign Language as it is one of the scariest movies I’ve ever seen. Sally Hawkins for Blue Jasmine would be lovely, but I can’t see it happening. James Spader will never win for The Blacklist, but his work on that show is incredibly entertaining!
