Two Belgian professors found traces of the herpes virus on a library copy of 50 Shades of Grey, reports Time. That’s both disgusting and not particularly surprising, I suppose, given the subject matter of the erotic self-pubbed fanfic turned mainstream publishing phenomenon.

Much more surprising to me is the fact that many of the other library books the toxicology experts looked at tested positive for trace amounts of cocaine—not enough to get readers high, but enough to be absorbed into the bloodstream and show up on a drug test!

I love libraries, but reading this made me very, very glad that my local library allows me to download borrowed titles to my e-reader.
