The Smithsonian Magazine has released a list of the 101 Objects that Made America. It’s a very interesting list that includes the passenger pigeon, Neil Armstrong’s space suit, and Negro League baseball.
Two particular items are of interest to The Stake that brought this to our attention.
The first is R2-D2, the bleeping Star Wars droid of great humor and compassion.
The second: Wonder Woman #1, arriving on the scene in December 1941.
Check the list out and see what you think is missing. It’s hard to think of icons of pop culture more American than Star Wars and Wonder Woman. But I’m sure you can think of something.
