During a recent close-watch of the original 1977 Star Wars, I found myself pretty much in awe of Carrie Fisher, and developed a new appreciation for her performance. The way Fisher combines her total BAMF-ery with her regal presence is convincing, but what never really dawned on me was how funny she is in the role.
That Fisher is funny has long been known. Her turn in The ‘Burbs convinced us of that, and her appearance on 30 Rock cemented the fact. But the subtle humor of performance in the original cut of Star Wars was lost on me. Exasperated, constantly annoyed and full of wit, she matches the boys line for line.
Anyway. Today (thanks to Vulture) I encounted a bit of Star Wars marginalia that combines Fisher’s exasperated Leia with some completely bats screwball. I had never seen this before, and in case you haven’t, either, I recommend taking 15 minutes and enjoying some hilarious Carrie Fisher Star-Wars-and-Beach-Bimbo comedy.

Is that a reference to Vincent Price and his cookbook buried in the beach blanket bimbo screwball right before the musical number? http://www.cookingvincent.com/
yes.
Vincent Price appears at the end, in fact.
